COOL!! but...

Good design. but lazy and little buggy. I want to be able "like" my own blog contents.

kksn2501 v1.0.1 · 12 years ago

Still some bugs

It’s pretty cool. And I hope the bug can be fixed: Gif animation does not move after scrolled.

iRuiwei v1.1.2 · 11 years ago

Doesn’t even run.

Crashes every time opening it on El Capitan. Hope the developers address this issue. It’s not freeware.

I’m really loving this app — the Lists feature alone is worth it, I have no idea why Tumblr makes you look at every followed user’s posts chronologically instead of allowing you to prioritize favorites — but the disappearing scroll bar is killing me. Sometimes it disappears so stealthily it actually stops working. (I hate this trend on HTML pages too, I wish it would stop now. Scroll functions are not decoration!) Also, sometimes the down arrow scrolls up, especially if you’ve just reblogged a post. Also I would love to be able to turn off the alerts, or to specify which Tumblr users I want to get alerts from. Also the price is a little much; if this app were $5.99 or $6.99 I think it would be more popular. But it seems very well-done, hasn’t crashed or gotten hung up (so far), manages to faithfully reproduce much of what’s great about Tumblr without congesting the flow of posts or adding extraneous/confusing content, looks like a million bucks, and offers some nice customization options. And the Lists feature, as I said, makes Tumblr itself much more pleasant & useable. If I got a better scrollbar and more control over alerts, I’d give tublme all 5 stars. Highly recommended for all Tumblr users with $10 lying around.

Love this app!

Best Tumblr app! Only thing missing is the option to go back and change the post date of posts. Please add this to the next update!

This is a great application, don’t let the title fool you. While half the fun is trying to pronounce the app’s name, the true magic happens when you start using the app. A clean interface, lickable icons and design. Lists are an exemplary feature, leaving me to question if I’ll ever use the tumblr site again between this and the native iOS application. Of course not all is well in tublme-land. Notifications are helpful, sure, but the constant barrage of updates relating to the people I follow posting new pictures is madness. Following something in the 100s region leaves me with a very… busy notifications center. Like the reviewer prior to me, a way to toggle who appears as a notification would be nice. The only other question I have relates to the icon of the application itself. What is the reasoning behind a soda can? I spent a few minutes pondering it, and I didn’t really see anything suggesting the reasoning behind it. Not a problem what it is, though the width of the logo does seem a bit off with my dock being set to vertical orientation. Worth the $10, and I’ll probably recommend to anyone else using the OS X operating system. UPDATE: 1.0.2: Unfortunately this update still hasn’t repaired many of the problems i had with this application. While the notification control is a VERY welcome change, I have found memory usage issues to have gotten worse; On a system with 16GB of RAM, I have seen this application use up to 10GB. I came back today to find my computer “out of RAM” and the system using 75gb (!) of virtual swap to accomodate for the ever increasing ram requirements of the application. I would much prefer having older posts unload entirely after a set time than screech my system a halt, requiring a force quit, which is what I’m increasingly finding myself doing with this app alone. On top of that, their window design is the ONLY one of the apps I’ve tested that has the stuttering issue that it does. Don’t get me wrong, I still love this application, but I’m finding myself increasingly frustrated with the problems faced in using it.

Out of all the Tumblr clients I’ve been able to find for Mac, this is probably the best. It’s got a nice UI, and some very good features. Unfortunately, even with a fairly limited follow list, it’s a bit of a memory hog. I shudder to think of what it would be like if I were following hundreds of Tumblrs, instead of nearly thirty. And the whole reason I wanted a Tumblr client in the first place was that I didn’t want to have to open up Chrome every time I wanted to check my account. So it kind of defeats that purpose if you’re constantly eyeing the memory stats, in fear that you’ll suddenly find your computer using up GB upon GB of memory and running slower than frozen molasses. If the devs are already working on this for the next version, I will withdraw my criticism when I see it. But until then, I can only honestly give this app 4 stars.

Good but needs work

Pro: Nice interface and easy to use. Con: “Answer” posts don’t always load the response properly. App crashes CONSTANTLY.

I use Tumblr differently than most people. I rarely browse and I mostly post. When I was considering a blog platform, I wanted the lowest maintenance blog possible with the best interface. I didn’t want to manage/police comments, I didn’t care to track my visitors. Quite frankly, all I wanted to do is write. That said, as a browser, Tublme as almost as good using native iOS Tumblr App or the website itself. I found myself a little miffed that I couldn’t view separate streams between my two Tumblr user names (Under one account), but instead was presented content in a simultaneous stream. Other than that, browser was fast and quick. New posts are automatically loaded in and even show in Notifications. For the truly Tumblr browsing addicted, Tublme will keep you more connected than ever and you don’t need to keep Tumblr open in a window. It even sports an optional menu bar widget (Thank you devs for making it optional) . Tublme is exceptionally good for managing multiple seperate tumblr accounts. Users can easily bounce between seperate logins without much thought, through quick keyboard commands at that. The devs get bonus points for including account icons in the account drop downs. However, notifications don’t have any real options, its either on or off. Those following 100 Tumblr probably will want to turn off the feature after being flooded with new posts constantly. I’d suggest to the developers adding notify only when preferred users post but I understand the hurdles thsi would take. Also, even when notifications are disabled within the app, I had the problem of receiving blog updates notifications. The faulty notifications on/off bug can easily be solved in OS X’s prefrences. Simply go to Notifications preference pane in the OS X preferences, locate Tublme in the list and turn off Posting My biggest annoyance with Tumblr is the posting process so I pinned my biggest hopes on Tublme. Tumblr is not a bad site, in fact its quite good, although its best suited for quick under-formatted tools. It can be used as a full blogging platform but lacks formatting tools. Instead, I’m constantly bounching into the HTML editor. Tublme as whole, its quite beautiful and easy to use. During the process I accidentally closed my window. Reopening the post item window brought up my incomplete post, something a browser couldn’t do. Tublme also gets bonus points for including Markdown as an option over HTML. I found it easier and much improved over using Tumblr but it had a few glaring omissions. - You cannot add images to text posts - Previously used tags aren’t recognized - Despite enabling check spelling, misspelled words are not highlighted - It was disappointing, for an app that shows quite a bit of polish in many areas to lack a few essential features. Posting picture posts was simple and fast, drag and drop. Browsing previous - posts a was fast, and worked exceptionally well. In all regards, I preferred Tublme but was held back by the inability easily spell check and add pictures to a post. To add my screenshots to this post I had to save this post in my queue and add the pictures the post via tumblr.com. It defeats the purpose. Interestingly, once the images were inserted into the post, I could edit the image proportions in the WYSIWYG editor. Tiublme has image support but doesn’t let you add images. I also encountered an interesting glitch. After a link is inserted, the highlighted text can be click, which will transport the user to the linked page… within Tublme. Without a back button, its impossible to return the post. Closing the Edit window does not seem to rectify the problem as the window opens back up to the linked page regardless of the post loaded. The only fix is to quit the app and reopen. Fortunately, you are still able to save any unsaved work even if its displaying the inccorect page. Lastly, uploaded images within text posts are displayed non-retina regardless if the image is scaled or not. This doesn’t affect your tumblr’s content. High resolution images will appear in their full high-rez glory on your Tumblr feed… just not within Tublme. Its purely an aesthetic gripe. Suggested Features Since Tublme isn’t Tumblr, I’d really have liked to have Headline tags and <small> tags in the formatting bar. Tumblr already has bold, italic, strike, links, ordered and unordered lists, link breaks and quotes. I still have to bounce into the HTML editor to add headlines (<h1>, <h2> etc) tags and <small> tags for image captions. Alignment could be appended to my wishlist but anything that writes inline styles from a developer’s perspective is less-than-ideal. Lastly, from a UX developer’s perspective, I’d suggest the “Edit Text Post” window name be reflected in the Window menu. There’s some dissoance when clicking the window menu reads “new post” and the window you’re looking for is “Edit Text Post”. Restrictions Tublme faces an uphill battle, according the developers, the limitations of the Tumblr API make it impossible for the developers to add: Messages and questions Changing your Tumblr Account Settings Answers to posts Synchronization of saved searches None of these are deal breakers for me but are important to consider before you pull the trigger. All of the above features can still be accessed via HTTP in your web browser. Final Thoughts At $9.99, Tublme provides an exceptionally good interface, fitting of an OS X application with some minor hiccups. If they add the ability to add other media types to Text posts and spell checking, I’ll be a total convert. I’d love to see a few more post formatting options as well. Should you buy it? That depends. If you rely on any of the missing features you might find yourself on miffed.

Hello. My name is _______ and I am an App-Addict. It all started when I found the App Store, included with the new software update, there on my iPod Touch home screen. Web Apps had been my gateway. Perusing the newly added creations and reading the subsequent reviews for the ones that arouse my interest has become a daily occurrence. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day. Always searching. Searching, searching, searching. All joking aside… This App is beautiful to look at and funcitons flawlessly. The developers sure were cryptic though with their choice in names… As well as the icon… But, I get it… Actually I don’t… And I don’t need to. Love the App.

A Joke

For the price this is a joke, beware! It crashes, won’t save preferences, it’s a mess.

App is very slow loading feed, much slower than browser. Behaves inconsistently when switching between views. Consumes memory, especially if you leave it running. I just had to reboot my 32gb Mac because it was out of application memory, cause for this: Tublme consumed 6.7GB of RAM. Developer doesn’t answer emails. Stick with a web browser, this isn’t what you’re looking for.

I purchased it back in July, and it worked great. For a week. And then, after the upgrade to Yosemite beta, it started crashing. This is the only application among dozens I use that doesn’t seem to be compatible with the new OX. And it still crashes, crashes, crashes the moment you try to launch it. I tried to reistall it, nothing. I sent my feedbacks to the developers, nothing again. I suppose the abandoned their own creature, as they didn’t issue any update in months. I want my money back. As for you, dear reader, don’t waste yours.

im not having any problem and the app works fine i recommended it to tumblr fans

I bought this app so I could create text posts with lots of images without having to upload them one-by-one and dealing with the Tumblr site losing my progress on flaky connections while I travel. Sadly, this app doesn’t seem to do what I need and the developer is unresponsive. Disappointed.

swrobel · 11 years ago

Terribly slow, UI doesn’t have major issues but lots and lots of tiny annoyances and breaks from OS X norms - and not in a good way like with Twitter’s app, this one’s more of a death by a thousand cuts. Support is completely unresponsive.

Its pretty descent but not perfect. It only gives 3 options for image sizes but that’s certainly better than Pixfeed which gives you only 1 choice. Full screen is a nice way to browser your dashboard which is what I bought the app for. It does crash when I right click a post, every time. So don’t right click posts. I’m able to like posts in this which I can’t in Pixfeed. The lists is a nice feature for organizing your tumblr feads. I use simliar features in TumbleOn on my iPad. Unfortunately you can’t just type in a name to follow, you have to find that blog on your dashboard. I don’t like that it pops up a small notification at the top of the window every few minutes when there are new posts on my dashboard. The notification covers up part of the post.

I liked it

The app worked well for me until I upgraded to Yosemite. Now, whenever I make a picture post it crashes.
